Sara and Rodrigo | Engagement Photoshoot in Portugal
Sara is a 3rd degree cousin and I still remember when she was just a little baby girl (gosh, this really makes me feel old). It’s hard to believe that this beautiful green-eyed girl is getting married soon!
Sara and Rodrigo are Portuguese, but they both live in the US. They met on Saint Anthony’s day, which is funny because in Portuguese folklore Saint Anthony is famous for being a “holy matchmaker“. Well, the story is he may have played his tricks on Sara and Rodrigo on that June day a few years ago 🙂
So they fell in love, started a relationship and eventually got engaged. When they called us to give us the news they told us they didn’t think twice: they knew they wanted to have their engagement photoshoot in Portugal. And they also knew they wanted us to be their photographers, which of course made us happy and honored 🙂
Our engagement session started early in the morning in Lisbon, where we could capture them against the colours and textures of the old town, in Alfama, along with the urban hustle and bustle of the baixa neighbourhood (Lisbon’s downtown).
In the afternoon, after a well deserved lunch with grilled sardines and lots of water to rehydrate, we left Lisbon and drove to Torres Vedras, about 50 Km north-west from Lisbon, which is where Sara and I are from (and where Emanuele and I actually live). We love it to shoot here because the landscape is so varied: we have vineyards, rolling hills, lots of green, traditional windmills, a beautiful coast and an amazing light, especially at the end of the day.
This full day engagement session with Sara and Rodrigo was a lot of walking and a lot of images to select and edit, but it was worth every minute and it felt like a beautiful day out in great company.
